With all the heavy topics I have posted about, I thought I would change it up a bit by posting something fun! Yeah, fun…I think I may have a vague recollection of what that might be like…
As some of you may already know, my husband and I are avid antique car fans. We even have a blog dedicated entirely to this topic at http://oldcargarage.com/wordpress/
Imagine my surprise walking around my home town and suddenly spotting an antique automobile being towed. From far away, it sort of looked like an El Camino, but upon closer inspection it became very clear that this was none other than the 1957 Ford Ranchero, one of the earliest ever built.
Though it may look like a pickup truck to some, the Ranchero is actually a coupe sitting on a modified station wagon chassis, with the truck bed incorporated into the body structure. It has very similar attributes to the Ford Fairlane, which I’ve had the pleasure of driving once around the block (thanks to a friend of my husband’s). The Ranchero was advertised as better than a car or a truck, since it combined the convenience of a pickup truck with the ease of handling of a coupe. All in all, not a bad car. I’m sure the new owner of this Ranchero is quite proud to have it in his driveway.
